Recology Yuba-Sutter

Sutter and Yuba Counties and the Cities of Live Oak, Marysville, Wheatland and Yuba City have entered into exclusive franchise agreements with Recology Yuba-Sutter (formerly Yuba-Sutter Disposal, Inc.) to provide refuse collection to residences, businesses and other organizations and also roll-off box services.

Residential (Single-Family) Collection

For areas of Yuba and Sutter counties with curbside recycling and organic waste collection service, the basic service rate is for the standard 32-gallon garbage cart and there is no additional charge for recycling and organic waste collection.

If you are finding that you regularly need a larger garbage cart, you can order a 64- or 96-gallon cart at an additional cost of about $0.50 per month per cart size upgrade. For areas of Yuba and Sutter counties that do not have curbside recycling and organic waste collection, the basic service rate includes a 96-gallon garbage cart.

If you occasionally have extra garbage, you can call the Recology Yuba-Sutter office at (530) 743-6933 in advance of your pick-up day to arrange for additional collection. There is a charge of about $4.75 for each additional 32-gallon bag of garbage collected.

Make sure your carts are visible to the driver. Your carts should be placed at the curb, at least 3 feet apart, and at least 3 feet from any cars or other objects. This allows the fully automated trucks to pick up the carts without the driver leaving the truck. This automated collection system helps to keep program costs down.

All three carts will be picked up on your regular weekly trash day. You only need to put your carts out when they are full.

Commercial and Multi-Family Collection

Commercial collection services are provided to businesses and other organizations in garbage carts; collection bins ranging in size from 1 to 7 yards; compactors ranging in size from 1.3 to 6 yards; and frequency of service from 1 to 6 days a week.

Bulky Item Collection

Yuba-Sutter single family residential service customers receive annual Bulky Item Pick-up Services as follows:

Yuba City Single-Family Residential Service Customers: Four (4) free Bulky Item Collection Services per year at no charge. The Bulky Item Collection Service requires advance registration and is limited to five (5) Bulky Items per collection. Bulky Items include discarded appliances, furniture, tires (maximum of 4 passenger car or light truck tires), carpets, mattresses and similar large items that require special collection due to their size or nature, but can be collected without the assistance of special loading equipment (such as forklifts or cranes) and without violating vehicle load limits. A Freon Certification Fee of about $17.00 will be applied to each refrigerator and air conditioner. Additional Bulky Item Collection Services are available for residential service customers for additional service charges.

Each of the four (4) free Bulky Item Collection Services may be used instead for a free Transfer Station Pass. The free Transfer Station Pass is valid for the drop-off of one (1) load of residential waste in a non-commercial (no more than 1 ton) vehicle or trailer, including up to four (4) passenger car or light truck tires. A Freon Certification Fee of about $17.00 will be applied to each refrigerator and air conditioner.

Live Oak, Marysville, Wheatland and Unincorporated Areas of Yuba and Sutter Counties Single-Family Residential Service Customers: Four (4) Bulky Item Collection Services per year at no charge. The Bulky Item Collection Service requires advance registration and is limited to two (2) cubic yards of Bulky Items, including up to four (4) passenger car and light truck tires, plus one large item such as a sofa, mattress or appliance (a Freon Certification Fee of about $17.00 will be applied to each refrigerator and air conditioner). Additional Bulky Item Collection Services are available for residential service customers for additional service charges.

Each of the four (4) free Bulky Item Collection Services may be used instead for a free Transfer Station Pass valid for the delivery of one (1) load in a non-commercial (no more than one (1) ton) vehicle or trailer of residential waste, including up to four (4) passenger car or light truck tires. A Freon Certification Fee of about $17.00 will be applied to each refrigerator and air conditioner.

Bulky Item Collection Services are available to multi-family and commercial service customers for a fee.

Construction & Demolition Debris Collection

Construction and demolition debris box service for builders, contractors, and remodeling and renovation professionals is provided by Recology Yuba-Sutter. Debris boxes ranging in size from 15 to 40 yards are available. Construction and demolition debris recycling is managed through the Recology Yuba-Sutter's Marysville Material Recovery Facility and Transfer Station to recover recyclable materials. Wood or metal only debris boxes are also available at reduced rates.

Mattress, Box Spring & Futon Recycling

The California Used Mattress Recovery and Recycling Act established an industry-run, statewide program to increase the recovery and recycling of mattresses, box springs and futons at their end-of-use. Effective January 1, 2021, all retailers that deliver a new mattress to a consumer in California (regardless of sales format or delivery method) must offer to pick up a used mattress at no additional cost to the consumer. Currently, mattresses, box springs and futons can be dropped-off at the following Yuba-Sutter locations:

Evans Furniture Warehouse

Mattresses, box springs and futons can be recycled at no cost at the Evans Furniture Warehouse located at 379 Epley Drive in Yuba City. Residents may drop-off mattresses, box springs and futons Monday – Saturday 10:00 am – 5:30 pm. Businesses must call (530) 821-0192 to schedule a delivery.

Recology Yuba-Sutter Transfer Station

Residents of Yuba and Sutter Counties can drop-off up to a total of four mattresses, box springs or futons per vehicle per day at no cost at the Recology Yuba-Sutter Transfer Station located at 3001 N. Levee Road in Marysville. Businesses may drop-off mattresses, box springs or futons for a fee. Mattresses, box springs and futons can be dropped off Monday – Sunday 7:00 am – 4:30 pm.
